“1000 Euros and One Night” is the first installment of a six-part theatrical miniseries by and starring Zaid Alsalame. Taking the form of a neo-cabaret performance, the show explores concepts of value, origin, shame, and cultural attribution as they relate to Iraq and Austria. The protagonist’s personal experiences are juxtaposed with motifs from *One Thousand and One Nights*.
The narrative is sometimes told in Arabic, but mostly in German. Zaid Alsalame deconstructs this narrative as a product of “literary colonialism” by, for example, questioning the stereotypical portrayal of the “quarrelsome woman” Fatima and scrutinizing the Western perspective on the “Orient.”
The evening combines autobiographical storytelling, stand-up comedy, performative acts, and direct interaction with the audience. Each episode stands on its own while also being part of an overarching dramatic development. Two episodes together make up a theater evening. Episode I was previously presented as part of the steirischer herbst cabaret in 2025.

هي بداية سلسلة مسرحية قصيرة من ست حلقات، من تأليف وأداء زيد السلامي. في إطار عرض أدائي نيو-كاباريه، يتناول العمل مفاهيم القيمة، والأصل، والعار، والإسناد الثقافي بين العراق والنمسا. تُواجَه التجارب الشخصية لبطل العمل بدوافع مستلهمة من ألف ليلة وليلة.
تُروى الحكاية أحيانًا بالعربية، ولكن في الغالب بالألمانية. يقوم زيد السلامي بتفكيك هذه السردية بوصفها نتاجًا لـ«الاستعمار الأدبي»، وذلك من خلال مساءلة التصوير النمطي لشخصية «فاطمة المرأة المشاكسة»، ووضع النظرة الغربية إلى «الشرق» تحت المجهر.
يجمع العرض بين السرد الذاتي، والكوميديا الارتجالية (ستاند-أب)، والأفعال الأدائية، والتوجّه المباشر إلى الجمهور. كل حلقة قائمة بذاتها، وفي الوقت نفسه تشكّل جزءًا من تطوّر درامي أشمل. وتشكل كل حلقتين أمسية مسرحية واحدة. في عام 2026، يعرض مسرح TiB الحلقتين الأولى والثانية.
